Tutankhmun's Treasures

“Since the discovery of his tomb in 1922, Tutankhamun has captured the hearts of people around the world. Buried with him were treasures beyond the imagination, giving us a glittering glimpse into the past,” said Zahi Hawass, secretary general of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities.

Below are just a few of the treasures that were found in Tutankhamun's Tomb in the Valley of the Kings.

They can be seen at the London Exhibition "Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharoahs"

Mannequin

This wood carved bust of Tutankhamun may have been used as a clothes dummy on which the King's garments could be draped or his jewellery displayed.

Royal Canopic Bust

This calcite bust of Tutankhamun  was used as a lid, or stopper, for one of the cavities of the canopic chest  in which the mummified organs of the King were stored. A bust was used on each of the four cylindrical cavities in the canopic chest.

Canopic Coffinette of Tutankhamun

Tutankhamun had four miniature coffins fashioned from gold and inlaid with coloured glass and semi precious stones.

  Statuette Upper Egypt

This statuette is of Tutankhamun wearing the tall crown of Upper Egypt. Another similar Statuette shows the King wearing the crown of Lower Egypt.

Golden Diadem

This golden Diadem was still around Tutankhamun's head when Howard Carter opened the royal coffin more than two thousand years after the young king died.
