What is SpexWorld! Playground?

Design the perfect playground!  A bright and colourful variety of 3D Play items are quickly and easily put to use to build the playground of your dreams. Spex World! Playground includes a budget facility making it a rich resource for Design & Technology, Maths and great for Graphical Modelling.

SpexWorlds! Playground is ideal for Graphical Modeling (QCA Unit 5), Items of playground furniture can be dragged into the view, selected, moved around, copied & pasted, and rotated to see how the different ‘graphical elements’ fit together.

Mathematics

SpexWorlds! Playground, has a budget facility making it an easy practical way for students get to grips with what budgeting and handling money is all about. It also provides a valuable bridge to the more abstract concept of Spreadsheet modeling, especially helpful for younger students.

SpexWorlds! Playground also provides students the chance to grasp spatial concepts in a practical setting. The relationship between plan view and 3D view becomes much easier to understand in SpexWorlds! Students also practise using the correct words for shapes, space and dimensions, scale proportions and symmetry.

SpexWorlds! Playground has the following features:

Budgets & Graphs: 

Graphs and charts, including 2D and 3D bar graphs, line graphs and pie charts which display the items and their costs.

Spreadsheet Modeling: 

SPEXWorlds! spreadsheets display the names of objects used in the design, with prices and the total cost. When items are added or removed from the design the changes are reflected in the spreadsheet.

Managing Money:

The budget facility helps students learn to think about and take account of prices because they need to work out what they can afford to purchase. Change the price of an item and see how this affects your budget and the spreadsheet.
